A Message from the Team
Happy New Year, Liberty Transit family! As we roll into 2025, we want to thank all of you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. This year, we are focused on safety, growth, and providing the best service for our customers. Stay tuned for updates, stories, and tips in this monthly newsletter.
New Location Info
Starting in 2025, Liberty Transit LLC has secured a new trailer parking space at 1520 Steele Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49507, to better accommodate our operations in Michigan. OTR Drivers dropping loaded trailers to this location must drop them at the back of the building, while preloaded trailers for outbound trips will be positioned at the front of the building for pickup. Empty trailers should be thoroughly cleaned out before being dropped off on the side of the building. Please note that only empty trailers can be placed on the side due to the soft ground conditions, which could lead to sinking under heavier loads. Strict adherence to these guidelines will ensure smooth and efficient use of the facility.

2025 Fuel Discount!!!
In 2025, Liberty Transit LLC secured an exclusive fuel discount program for its drivers, available only at Pilot and Flying J locations. This partnership ensures significant savings on fuel costs, helping to optimize operational expenses across the fleet. Drivers are reminded that this discount is exclusive to Pilot and Flying J locations and will not apply to purchases made at any other fuel stops. By adhering to this program, Liberty Transit LLC continues to support its team with cost-effective solutions for their journeys.
Make sure to download the app and link your fuel card to it.

Safety Culture
The latest updates to get you through the day
Since joining Liberty Transit LLC in August 2024, Alex has been a driving force behind our commitment to safety. His guidance and expertise have helped us significantly improve our practices, reducing the number of safety triangles from four to three, with the remaining three steadily trending in the right direction. A strong safety score is vital for an OTR trucking company—it not only ensures compliance with regulations but also enhances our reputation, attracts premium loads, lowers insurance costs, and keeps our drivers and cargo safe on the road. Thanks to Alex’s leadership, Liberty Transit is paving the way for a safer, more efficient future.
In the graph the blue line is the national average, and the orange line is where we are. We do need to be below the blue line to be compliant.

"Safety is not just a priority; it’s a way of life. Every mile counts, so stay alert, check your equipment, and remember: the safest route is the one that gets you home."

Detention pay compensates drivers for the time spent waiting at shippers or receivers when loading or unloading goes beyond the scheduled appointment. This waiting period can be incredibly frustrating and demanding, as drivers are stuck for hours, often unable to rest properly or move on to their next load. At Liberty Transit LLC, we understand the impact these delays have on our drivers’ time and schedules, and we remain committed to ensuring fair compensation for their patience and dedication during these challenging situations.

To ensure proper compensation for detention after 2 hours of waiting at pickups and deliveries, drivers must follow these steps:
1. Document Arrival Time:
Record the exact time you arrive at the shipper or receiver and notify dispatch immediately.
2. Obtain Proof of Waiting:
Request a signed confirmation from the shipper or receiver verifying the time you were checked in
3. Maintain Communication/Notify Dispatch:
Keep dispatch updated throughout the waiting period and notify them if the 2-hour threshold is exceeded.
4. Submit Required Documentation:
Include the signed proof of waiting, bill of lading (BOL), and any additional paperwork when submitting your detention request.
Make sure the in and out times are written on BOL next to the signature of shipper/receiver. Please also have them print their name so we know who to refer to in case broker tries to make it hard on us.
By following these steps, we can ensure timely and accurate compensation for your time and effort.
